Integrated approach combining livestock with fisheries development to enhance economic growth of rural communities.
3	Sustainable livelihood of tribal population of Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra state through intervention of scientific fisheries technology	PI: Dr. P.A. Telvekar, Co-PI: S. T. Shelke, S. A. Joshi	STRC-GUG Scheme	36.8	2016 to 2018	Scientific aquaculture technologies enhanced production and improved the socio-economic status of the tribal population. Advanced technologies and management practices were popularized through training and demonstrations. Women Self-Help Groups were empowered through training in fish product preparation, creating self-employment opportunities.
4	Dissemination of fisheries technology for poverty alleviation tribal/rural community of Gadchiroli District	PI: Mr. S. A. Joshi, Co-PI: Dr. S. S. Belsare, Dr. P.A. Telvekar	DST, New Delhi	63.982	2017 to 2020	Scientific fisheries technologies improved the socio-economic status of the rural tribal population. Fish production from selected water bodies increased through scientific aquaculture practices. Advanced technologies were popularized via training and demonstrations.

Formed Fish Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) in 8 blocks of Gadchiroli with 250 members. Demonstrated scientific fish culture practices in 24 ponds with input support. Installed 4 FRP Portable Carp Hatcheries in Gadchiroli district. Produced 535 lakh IMC spawn (May–Aug 2024) from installed hatcheries. Produced and distributed 13 lakh IMC fingerlings to 238 farmers. Successfully bred Common carp; produced 130 lakh spawn, distributed to 63 farmers. Provided 5 Portable Fish Vending Units for hygienic fish marketing.
